#ClipHanger Book Trailers

Digital Library

For this project, the 6th grade ELA teachers collaborated with the 6th grade Tech Teachers to formulate a plan to create a digital library.  In order to continue advancing our students' reading skills, we know it's vital for them to read books that are of the correct reading level.  However, we also want to ensure that they find books that suit their interests, which is why ELA and Tech teamed up to have our MS 442 6th graders write and record book trailers.  This Digital Library houses all of the 6th graders book trailers and can be used by their peers to find new books to read.

We call this project the #ClipHanger Book Trailer project.  We tasked our students with choosing one of their independent reading books that they've read this year to design a book trailer about.  You can watch the teacher model for the book Wonder on the Home Page of this website.  Once students chose their books, they planned out the content of their book trailer plot lines to include character descriptions, the main problem, and a suspenseful cliffhanger that leaves the audience on the edge of their seats.  After demonstrations from their teachers on how to use the Clips app on the iPad, the students got to work building their own book trailers including posters, Google Drawings, voice over narration, emojis, clip filters, and music.

On the subsequent pages of this website, you will be able to view all of their hard work.  We hope you enjoy them and that this Digital Library can be of service to you all when you are looking for a new book to read!
